Never Take An Instruction From A Person Who Is Unable To Give You A Promotion.

1 Kings 13:15-19 (NLT)

Then he said to the man of God, "Come home with me and eat some food." "No, I cannot," he replied. "I am not allowed to eat any food or drink any water here in this place. For the Lord gave me this command: `You must not eat any food or drink any water while you are there, and do not return to Judah by the same way you came.'" But the old prophet answered, "I am a prophet, too, just as you are. And an angel gave me this message from the Lord: `Bring him home with you, and give him food to eat and water to drink.' "But the old man was lying to him. So they went back together, and the man of God ate some food and drank some water at the prophet's home.

This man was given an instruction from God, yet when another man came and gave him a new instruction; he dismissed what God told him to do. He accepted an instruction from someone who could never give him a promotion. The man who disobeyed God’s instruction was shortly thereafter mauled by a lion and killed.

Now this may be an extreme example, but the point is clear. If we accept instructions from people who are not responsible for the outcome of our future, we find ourselves in a lot of trouble that we could have avoided. God designed the earth in such a way that Godly promotion only comes by submitting to authority and following through with instructions. On the job, at home, as a volunteer, or wherever else you spend your time, make a decision not simply to decline instructions from those who cannot promote you, but also to carry out your instructions from right authorities with excellence and promptness.
